Day 3

Today we are adding: the palm tree

Think about it:

We generally associate Jesus with palm trees on Palm Sunday. In spite of this, we usually put palm trees in the crib, because these type of trees are common in Palestine. The palm is a symbol of peace and joy. This is why Jesus became man. He wanted to show us how to have joy in our hearts. When there is peace amongst us, there is also joy.

Family time:

Usually, the best thing to do when we are gathered as a family, is to put away our mobiles, switch off the television and remove any other distraction. However, today, go through Facebook, or search the news, for recent events which show lack of peace. Discuss these situations and whether they could have been avoided. More importantly, discuss how you can bring joy and peace, wherever you are.

Prayer

Say the St Francis prayer for peace.

Let’s do it:

Pay attention, and see that during the day, you use the words, “thank you”, “please” and “sorry” as necessary. It is important to say these words, no matter where you are or whom you are with.

Sing:

Let’s sing Down in my heart.
