Glittery Water

Prayer Spaces at Home and a Prayer to thank God

Hi Kids,

At some time in our life, we meet someone who inspires us and becomes our hero. It could be someone you know very well such as a family member, a teacher or a person who has become famous because of their courageous acts. We admire these people because they give us a good example and are role models to us. In the Catholic church we have many saints such as St Bernardette Soubirous.  Bernardette teaches us the beauty of humility. Being humble means that you appreciate your own and other’s good qualities and talents and use them for the good of others even if this is not easy.

This prayer space is called Glittery Water.

You will need:

  • some blank sheets of paper
  • a bowl full of water
  • glitter

Instructions:

  • On the blank sheet of paper write the good qualities, talents or abilities you have. Maybe you are good at taking care of young children, or you are a good listener, or you are a helpful person.
  • Each time you think of a good quality, talent or ability you have sprinkle some glitter into the bowl of water. You may also sprinkle some glitter if you think of a quality or talent in a person you admire.
  • Write down, draw or say a prayer of gratefulness about yourself and pray that you may always use your talents and abilities to help others, even when it is difficult to do so.

How to use this space
