Carnival Prayer

Prayer Spaces at Home and a Prayer to rest

Hi kids,

During February, many students, teachers and families look forward to the mid-term holidays and to Carnival. Carnival is a time to rest from the stress of studies, exams and work. It’s a time to have fun with your family and friends, enjoy the colourful and creative festivities, wear masks or dress up in your favourite costume, be creative through art, craft or dance. Our health needs to have time to stop and rest from our daily routine to later reflect on the essential things in life such as prayer, building good relationships with others, charity and self-control.

This prayer space is called Carnival Prayer.

You will need:

  • A blank sheet of paper
  • Colouring pencils
  •  paints and other craft/art materials and decorations(optional)

Instructions:

  • Think of Carnival and what you like best about it: for example, masks, floats, face-painting, King Carnival, dancing, enjoying the company of friends or family.
  • Draw what inspires you on the sheet of paper and colour it or if you wish, you may be creative and create your mask or float using the craft or art materials.
  • Write a prayer to thank God for this time of rest, creativity, enjoyment and fun with family or friends.

How to use this space
