Hi kids!
A very commonly used Maltese proverb advises us to hold dear to the old people’s spoken wise words. It tells us that it is from listening to the elderly that we can learn wisdom. In the story of when Jesus was presented in the temple, St Luke tells us that the Spirit helped an old man named Simeon and an old lady named Anna to recognise that God was closer to them than they could have ever imagined. So close that Simeon could hold him in his arms and this filled his heart with joy. Around us we meet old people like Simeon and Anna who speak words of wisdom because they recognised Jesus. These wise old people could be our neighbours or our grandparents who love us and want us to recognise God’s presence within us too. We are his temple! We ask that like Simeon and Anna we listen to the Holy Spirit within us so that we may recognise Jesus in surprising places and present him to the people of this time.
The prayer space we are going to do today and with those who share our same household is called:- His Temple and to do it we need:
Start by sticking the front side of the envelope to the A4 paper. Open the envelope and stick the opened triangular flap too.
On top of the envelope draw the sign of the cross and while you stick your photo in the middle look at the picture and remind yourself that we are all like temples where God lives and where we get to know him.
Now, take some time to think of old people who with their words of wisdom help us to get to know more God and his presence in each and every one of us.
Write the names of these wise old people on the envelope and pray for them.
You can ask God to bless all the old people and thank Him for their wisdom because they teach us how to see him and to see that he is always loving us unconditionally.
Bye Bye Friends till we meet again.
