Prayer Spaces at Home and a Prayer for creativity

Hi kids,

How do you feel when you look at a beautiful flower, plant or tree? We often do not find the words to express what we feel when we see something beautiful. This is why every year we celebrate World Art Day. Arts and crafts help us to use our imagination and to express our thoughts, dreams, wishes and emotions in a creative way without the need to write or speak. We usually use our hands to express ourselves artistically but many people can also create art using their mouth or feet. When we communicate through art, we feel happy because we create beautiful things and share them with others.

This prayer space is called Creative Hands

You will need:

  • A paper plate (or palette to mix paints)Platt tal-karti
  • Poster, acrylic or water paints
  • A plant, flowers, leaves, pine cones or conifers, pebbles or small stones (natural objects you find on the ground in the countryside)

Instructions:

  • Relax and breathe in and out. Imagine you are looking at a flower, a scene in the countryside, a view of fields or mountains. How does this make you feel?
  • Express your joy and what you feel when you see the beauty of nature by dipping natural objects such as flowers, leaves, pine cones, pebbles or stones into acrylic paint and making designs with them on a paper or paper plate
  • Write or draw a reflection of gratitude about nature.
  • Look at your hands. Remember that there are people who cannot use their hands because of a disability or injury. Say a prayer or reflection about this.
