Advent Cube

Advent is a special time during which we prepare for Christmas. We prepare our homes, classrooms, the streets and shops. Everything is beautifully decorated; but the most important thing we need to prepare is OUR HEARTS.

During the four weeks of Advent, we will reflect on and pray for: Hope, Love, Joy and Peace.
(it is not imperative that this order is kept, but no matter the order these four virtues are important as we prepare our hearts for Jesus)

  1. Print on white construction paper
  2. Cut around the outer lines (if not done already in the previous week)
  3. Colour the candle of LOVEand the words, ‘ADVENT, preparing our hearts for Jesus’

How many times do we hear the word love? There are many types of love! We may love eating pasta or ice-cream; we may love watching a favourite programme or sport; we may love playing a favourite sport or musical instrument. But then there is the love between a couple or friends, love for our parents, love of parents for their children, parents who make great sacrifices, who give their love freely without expecting something in return. This love can be seen in the relationship of St Joseph and Holy Mary, and their love for Jesus.  Jesus also taught us about the special love God has for each and every one of us, and how we are to love God.

  • Read 1 Corinthians 13, 4-8 to learn what love is
  • Think of how you can love others, and act upon it

Lord Jesus, please show me how to love others, the way that you do. Give me the courage to love even those who hurt me. Amen
