Mary, sorrowful and hurt

Spending time with Our Lady during summer

Reading from the Holy Gospel according to St John (19:25-27)

Standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.  When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.”  Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

The Word of the Lord
Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ

Mary remained with her son Jesus, while others left because of fear.  Even Jesus continued to care for his Mother to the end.

Mary teaches us that:

  • She remained with her son Jesus and she will remain with us always.
  • She is our mother too.

Jesus, help us to be good friends, and to remain close to our friends when they are happy, as well as when they are sad.

Pray the 5th Sorrowful Mystery of the Rosary.

Pray Our Lady’s Litany.

Together with your parents, see what is on the news (from the newspaper, internet or television).  Unfortunately, everyday we hear news of pain and suffering.  Make a list of what you read or hear on the news and pray for the people who are suffering through the intercession of Our Lady. Our Lady will lift your prayers to her son Jesus, and ask him to help these people.

The Parish of St Paul’s Bay is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows.
