Be prepared

Jesus once told a story of a wedding in which  the groom took long to go for his bride  to take her to his house  as was the custom.  There were ten bridesmaids who had one task – to greet the groom.  Five bridesmaids were prepared so that if the groom had to take long they would miss nothing  however the other five were foolish and did not prepare themselves.  They had to go off to find a late-night dealer to get oil  so they were late to welcome the groom. 

God is the groom whom we are all awaiting.  He comes and calls us in many instances in our lives to love and he will also call us one day to dwell with Him for eternity.  What about our daily readiness to welcome God into our life?  

Are we like the five bridesmaids who were ready and prepared or like the foolish five who took everything for granted?  There are multiple ways in which we can prepare ourselves including maintaining a healthy relationship with God through prayer and having time to listen and reflect upon God’s message to us during the Mass liturgy.

The prayer space we are going to do today is called –  Be Prepared and  to do it  we need:

• A mobile charger or a charger template
• Small piece of paper
• Sticky tape
• Biro or markers

Start by taking some time to think if you are ready to welcome God or not.

Pause.  

On a small piece of paper write the words ‘Be Prepared’ and stick the paper to a charger.  If you do not have a charger you can write the words ‘Be Prepared’ on a charger template.  While you are doing so take some time to think of things which you could do so that you will recharge yourself and be prepared for God.  You can ask God to guide you in getting yourself prepared for Him.
