A smaller meal for a bigger heart

Prayer Spaces at Home and a Prayer for an open-hearted world

Hello kids!

Have you ever been watching TV and see clips showing children like yourself suffering from shortage of food and hunger? Have you ever heard stories of children who would like to go to school but cannot afford it?

To celebrate the day of charity, along the week we are going to be sacrificing some of what we must help others.

Today’s prayer space is called A smaller meal for a bigger heart.

One needs a blank paper and something to write with – pencil, pen or colours.

Divide the paper in the middle and draw seven horizontal lines. Write the seven days of the week on the left-hand side and stick the paper somewhere common where everyone can see.

Explain to the family that during this week everyone should refrain from something – eat a dessert less, eat a simpler meal, a chocolate bar less.

With each passing day tick the day and place the money saved in a jar or a moneybox. At the end of the week as a family count the money and place it in an envelope to be donated to the Missionary Office on the Mission Day. The main aim of the office is to help those less fortunate in poorer countries.

Every day of the week, pray for those lacking the basic needs and pray for the world to become more open-hearted for the needs of others.

Bye bye friends! Until we meet again!

How to use this space
