Eighth Day of Christmas

On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me… eight maids a milking

These eight ladies who are milking the cows represent the eight Beatitudes which are found in Matthew’s Gospel (Matthew 5: 3-10). It is called the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus gave us a new way of living and behaving towards each other.  

Prayer

Dear Lord, today is New Year’s Day and the feast of Mary Mother of God. We pray especially on this day Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God. Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen
