Eleventh Day of Christmas

12 Days of Christmas Special

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love sent to me… eleven pipers piping

These eleven pipers who are playing their flutes, represent the eleven faithful Apostles. As you know Jesus chose twelve disciples to help him spread the good news of God’s kingdom, but one of them betrayed him to the religious leaders and the Romans, Judas Iscariot. The eleven faithful Apostles were Simon Peter, Andrew, James, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, Judas son of James. We can read this in Luke 6: 14-16. The Apostles changed their plans when Jesus called them to follow him. Would you be ready to change your plans for Jesus? Being a follower of Jesus is not always easy but knowing that Jesus loves us gives us courage.

Prayer

Lord, help me to be a faithful follower, help me to love you with all my heart, soul, and mind. Help me to turn to you in times of difficulty and to be kind and forgiving with my family and friends. Amen

To Do

Today is also the feast day of St. Simeon Stylites the Elder, he was a “pillar-hermit.” He was born in Syria in 388 AD. To show the world that he was a true follower of Christ he erected a tall pillar with a platform on top and lived on it for 37 years, standing up the whole time! He preached and wrote letters from his pillar and was thought to be a very Holy man by the people and many went to visit him. To learn more about this Saint you can watch this video:
