Peace 8-11 years

Advent Cube

Advent is a special time during which we prepare for Christmas. We prepare our homes, classrooms, the streets and shops. Everything is beautifully decorated; but the most important thing we need to prepare is OUR HEARTS.

During the four weeks of Advent, we will reflect on and pray for: Hope, Love, Joy and Peace.
(it is not imperative that this order is kept, but no matter the order these four virtues are important as we prepare our hearts for Jesus)

(for ages between 4 -7 please visit here.)

  1. Colour the candle of PEACE
  2. Colour baby Jesus and the words, ‘Jesus, the light of the world’
  3. Fold and glue the flaps
  4. Assemble into a cube shape

When the angels appear to the shepherds, after Jesus was born, they proclaim, “Peace on earth.” After Jesus rose from the dead, he greeted his friends with, “Peace be with you.” Jesus brought peace in unexpected ways. The Jews thought that the Messiah would bring peace by fighting the Romans with his great armies. But Jesus brought us peace, by saving us, by dying on the cross for us. The Hebrew word for peace is Shalom. This is the peace that Jesus gives us. We have this kind of peace when we are at peace with God and with others, when we know that God loves us and we love others, when we know that God forgives us and we too forgive others, when we believe that God wants what is best for us, and we too want what is best for others.

Before doing something, ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?” If Jesus would do what you were going to do, then go ahead and do it, however, if Jesus would not do it, stop yourself from doing it. Pray and see what Jesus would do instead.

Pray to the Holy Spirit and ask him for help to bring peace to others and to have peace in  your heart.
