Praying with nature

Prayer Spaces at Home and a Prayer about nature and God’s creation

Hi Kids!!

Have you ever been out in  the countryside and think about all the beautiful and different plants, flowers, trees and insects there are? You can’t help it but to be in awe with God’s greatness right?

On the 14th July, we celebrate the feast of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha. She is the first Native American saint in the Catholic Church. She is the patron saint of the environment and the ecology. She used to spend a lot of time in nature praying and talking to God.

The Prayer Space we are going to do is called Praying with Nature. For this Prayer Space we need:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Paper
  • Pen or pencil
  • Mobile (with Google lens app)

Put on the shoes and go for a walk in the countryside. You can also go to a public garden or if you have a garden at home. Look and observe the nature around you.

Pause for some seconds

Talk to God or write down a prayer to thank Him for all the nature you see, you can also think of ways of how to care for the environment.

If you have a mobile phone with you, you can use apps like Google Lens, where through a photo you gain more information about the plant, flowers, trees, and insects you encounter in the garden or during the walk.

Bye bye friends, until we meet again.

How to use this space

God speaks to us in many ways, including through prayer at home. Here you will find useful background and activities to better understand how to pray, helping you to connect with God in your daily life in a meaningful way.
