Rope of hope

Prayer Spaces at Home and a Prayer to Our Lady for the protection from Covid-19

When the road gets bumpy and we feel unsafe we reach out to hold onto something safe. Prayer is like a safety rope of hope between us and God who is always with us.  He hears all our prayers; when we adore him, praise him, thank him and even when we are angry, we grumble or when we ask him for what we need or wish.

For this prayer space we need:

  • six pieces of wool, 70 cm long
  • scissor

This rope of hope – our praying time, is in our hands it is all up to us to never let go of it. Take some time to think about your prayers.  Do you make time to pray in your day?  Do you trust God hears your prayers?

Take 6 pieces of wool from these provided, tie them together and braid them to form like a small rope.

Hold this rope in your hands, close your eyes and pray to God that you will never doubt of his love and mercy.

Finally, you can tie this rope around your wrist to remind you that in your life you should never stop praying.

Prayer to Our Lady for the Protection from Covid-19

Dear Holy Mary,
you have always been with us in our history.
Our grandparents and great-grandparents still narrate to us
how a group of ships full of food entered the Grand Harbour
on this very day 78 years ago
when they were all very hungry during the War.

We also ask you today to be with us during these difficult times of Covid-19.
We pray for people all over the world who are dying because of this virus,
for those who are sick,
for those facing challenges such as loneliness and financial difficulties.
We also pray for the doctors and nurses who are risking their lives to help others,
for all workers doing essential jobs in these times of crisis.

Take us all under your own protection,
so that we keep taking care of each other
with courage and with joy.
We ask you to turn your eyes toward us,
that we may love God with all our heart.

Amen.
